Stillpoint uses the Jing Fang Eight-Palace and Na Jia framework to turn six coin casts into a relational chart of roles, timing, strength, and change.
A named hexagram is the beginning of a Liu Yao reading, not the whole answer. The question and the relationships inside the chart determine what the pattern means here.
How the chart is built
The chart is calculated before interpretation begins. This keeps the visible coin result, recorded line, original hexagram, changing lines, and resulting hexagram internally consistent. Interpretation never changes the cast to fit a preferred story.
The six coin results
Three coins are cast six times, beginning with the bottom line. The totals 6, 7, 8, and 9 determine yin or yang and identify which lines are changing. The recorded coin faces and the resulting line always come from the same result.
The original and resulting hexagrams
The six lines form the original hexagram. Old yin and old yang change to form a resulting hexagram. The nuclear hexagram adds another view of the pattern developing inside the situation.
The Eight-Palace position
The hexagram is located within the Jing Fang Eight-Palace sequence. Its palace element and stage establish the framework used to assign Self and Other and calculate the Six Relations.
Na Jia and the Six Relations
Earthly Branches and five elements are assigned to every line through Na Jia. Their relationship to the palace element produces the functional roles known as Parent, Sibling, Child, Wealth, and Officer.
Time, strength, void, and break
The exact casting time supplies the calendar context. Month and day help assess seasonal strength, empty branches, month break, clashes, combinations, and whether a line can presently express its role.
Focus Spirit and relationships
The question determines the primary Focus Spirit. A reading then weighs its source, opposing, and draining influences; its relationship to Self and Other; moving transformations; hidden spirits; and chart-level structures.
What receives priority in a reading
The first check is internal consistency. From there, the reading identifies what the question is really asking about, selects the appropriate Focus Spirit, and examines whether it is supported, constrained, hidden, empty, broken, or activated by change.
Self and Other show the positions in relationship. Moving lines receive particular attention because they identify where the chart is active, but movement is not automatically good or bad. Its value depends on what moves, what it becomes, and how that affects the focus of the question.
Traditional structure, contemporary language
The technical framework follows traditional Liu Yao concepts. The explanation is written for a contemporary reader: it translates symbolic relationships into conditions, tensions, choices, and practical next steps without requiring prior knowledge of Chinese metaphysics.
Traditional terms remain visible where they help you understand why a conclusion was reached. The aim is not to hide the method behind a polished answer, but to keep the technical basis and the human meaning connected.
Guidance, not a fixed prediction
A Liu Yao chart is treated as a structured reflection on present conditions. It can illuminate timing, roles, constraints, and available responses, but it does not remove uncertainty or personal responsibility. Readings avoid deterministic claims about the future.
