A TRANSPARENT WORKED EXAMPLE
Should I accept the new job offer?
One fixed Liu Yao cast, shown from the six recorded values to a careful conclusion that does not pretend the chart can decide for you.
The role itself has support, but the chart does not justify a blind yes. The practical decision turns on written terms, resource cost, and whether the offer remains sound after those details are made explicit.
1. Record the question before reading the chart
Question: Should I accept the new job offer?
Fixed teaching time: 1 August 2026, 10:00 in UTC+8. Recorded values, bottom to top: 7, 8, 6, 9, 7, 8.
The first value is always the bottom line. Values 6 and 9 are changing; values 7 and 8 are stable. Publishing these inputs makes the example reproducible rather than asking the reader to trust a finished interpretation without seeing its basis.
2. Calculate the chart before interpreting it
Chart facts: the cast produces Following changing to After Completion. The month and day are both Wei Earth; the void branches are Yin and Mao. These are calculated properties, not editorial judgments.
3. Let the question select the Focus Spirit
For a question about accepting employment, Stillpoint uses the Officer role as the primary Focus Spirit. There is one visible Officer line: line 5, You Metal. It is not moving or void, and it is assessed as supported in this chart because Earth produces Metal.
This is the strongest positive fact in the example: the role or responsibility being offered is present and has support. It does not, by itself, prove that every term of the offer is beneficial.
4. Read the Focus Spirit in relationship
Line 3 · Wealth Earth · moving
Self sits on a strong resource line and changes to Parent Water. Editorially, this directs attention to the cost, compensation, obligations, and written structure surrounding the move—not only the attraction of the role.
Line 6 · Wealth Earth · strong
The other side is also represented through resources and material terms. That supports treating salary, budget, benefits, and practical capacity as central evidence.
Line 4 · Parent Water · moving
Parent commonly covers documents, terms, information, and institutional support. Here it moves and transforms toward an Officer role, making clarification of the written offer part of evaluating the job itself.
The named hexagram, Following, adds a useful question—what is being followed, and on whose terms? The resulting hexagram, After Completion, cautions against treating apparent completion as the end of due diligence. These hexagram meanings support the line analysis; they do not replace it.
5. State what the chart supports—and what it does not
The opportunity is viable enough to examine seriously. Before accepting, verify the written scope, compensation, reporting line, probation terms, and resources available to do the work. A clear offer that remains attractive after this review receives more support than a rushed acceptance based on title alone.
The chart does not know the employer's finances, workplace culture, commute, legal terms, or the person's alternatives. Those facts must come from ordinary investigation. The reading organizes the decision; it does not replace evidence or consent.
Limits, method, and sources
